Born 1998-10-18 · Hungary
Hungarian filmmaker, editor, and composer Dániel Kőváry's work is marked by an expressive fusion of sound and images, with editing and music playing a significant part in shaping the narrative. He was born in a small Hungarian town and currently lives in Budapest. His father, Péter Kőváry (co-composer of the OST of the Hungarian cult film Kontroll, directed by Antal Nimród), had an important influence on his artistic journey, starting with music. He quickly became recognised for his ability to create exciting cinematic worlds during his studies in film editing. A key milestone in his early career came when his editing on Márk Beleznai's Agapé helped secure the film's selection for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. Dániel has edited a number of notable shorts over the years before eventually transitioning into directing. Disco Dictator (2021), his directorial debut, examined the relationship between music, nostalgia, and family. His most ambitious and intimate film to date, Arturia, was finished in 2025 and was inspired by personal tragedies and the raw, sample-driven energy of French-German electronic music from the 1990s. In addition to being a filmmaker, Dániel is also involved in the music scene as Constant K, blending Funk, Disco, and House in his original productions and DJ sets. He aims to produce powerful experiences, whether in music or film, that connect the past and present, reality and transcendence.
