A silent black-and-white film with classical orchestra and musical accompaniment directed by Garin Nugroho and shown in Melbourne, Australia as the opening of the Asia Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts on February 24, 2017. Satan Jawa is the beginning of Asmara's career in the film industry. Asmara, who has a background in tango, flamenco and pole dance, made Garin inspired to express Asih's character through a combination of these contemporary dances with traditional Javanese dance movements. Asmara's enthusiasm was seen when she just returned from a photo shoot in Larantuka, East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Asmara gained popularity when playing the role of Darminah, the antagonist in the Pengabdi Setan (film 2017) by Joko Anwar.
